• La Gaia by Oscar Molina is probably the best restaurant in Ibiza right now.

We went to La Gaia for our last night in Ibiza and we were very happy to do so. The restaurant is in the five stars hotel, Ibiza Gran Hotel.

La Gaia is on the ground floor of the Ibiza Gran Hotel, it’s elegantly designed, the atmosphere is serene and chic. When we arrived at the hotel, the doorman welcomed us warmly and friendly guided us to the restaurant. From here, our host, Marta asked us to be patient before inviting us to taste the appetizers concocted by the chef's assistant.

The series of appetizers were originals, fun, very delicate and tasty, specially the “Pickled tomato & caviar” and the “Scarlet shrimp & herbal liquor foam”.

After the appetizers, our head waiter leaded us to our table which was a little bit uncomfortable because the table itself is quite high compared to our seats. For us, this was a little faux pas that we did not fail to mention to Oscar Molina at the end of our meal.

For our dinner we chose the classic menu named Tanit (A goddess who symbolizes Ibiza). The “Main Events” came with nine courses. From the “Ramen broth” to the “Salt-baked local lamb” each course was flavorful, visually beautiful, and perfectly balanced in terms of portions and ingredients.

Two dishes standout for us were the “Black rice” and the “Salt-baked local lamb”, these dishes were superbly prepared and cooked, it was a delight!

The desserts, the "Ibizan Meadow" and "Hibiscus chocolate" were refreshing and unusual, and to conclude wonderfully our dinner, a sweet unboxing with six little delights.

The wine list at La Gaia was amazing, eclectic, well thought and sources. But it was the sommelier, Vassilli who impressed us the most with his advice and explanation and in French, s’il vous plait.

As we cannot drink much alcohol anymore, we asked him to advise us a glass of red wine to accompany the “Salt-baked local lamb”. He recommended us to drink one glass of the very best Spanish wine and the very best was a glass of Vega-Sicilia, Valbuena 5° 2015. It was a simply divine!

The service by a young tandem was very nice and efficient.

La Gaia is a must destination for all gourmet travelers who wish to discover the fantastic cooking of Oscar Molina. The chef fully deserves his Michelin star, and he is not very far from the second star according to our humble opinion.

  • At Salvia, their philosophy is locavore, and they are committed to use only local products.

Recently, they have recruited an experienced Argentina chef in the name of Pablo Carrizo who had worked for El Bulli with Ferran Adria, for El Celler de Can Roca with the Roca brothers and at Sant Pau with Carme Ruscalleda.

The setting is beautiful, and perfectly combines the Ibizan styles with design architectures and sober furniture.

The philosophy at Salvia is “To share... Or not” your plates which we did from the “Charcoal-grilled lettuce” to the “Korean style chicken” and “Homemade prawn baos”, each dish was full of flavor perfectly cooked. The main dish the “Tandoori Iberian blade and loin” was very good but a little too salty.

The desserts were very originals and refine as a work of art, specially the “Banana cheesecake and Thai Donut”. You could see the influence of Ferran Adria and Jordi Roca in these desserts.

The wines list was very eclectic and affordable for this chic venue, even though, we did not take any wine. Their cocktails were pretty good like our “Bellino”, a version of free alcohol Bellini and “Safe Sex on the beach”.

The service was professional, kind and relaxed at the same time.

Salvia is a very nice and beautiful place for lunch and for dinner, but like any high-end places in Ibiza, it is expensive for your wallet.

  • Bambuddha Ibiza claims itself as “The MediterrAsian food village offers modern fusion recipes inspired by the ancient Spice Route from Spain, through Thailand, Vietnam to Japan”. Indeed, the kitchen impressed us with their Asian recipes when we visited on Saturday April 30

The place has truly zen spirit and vibe typical in Ibiza. Stylish and trendy. Located just outside of St. Eulalia on the road to St. Juan. The restaurant opened in 1999 and has been one of the hotspots on Ibiza ever since.

The food was nice but extremely expensive as many high ends dining on the island these days. They had a very long food menu and a large drink list. But what makes it particularly special was the exotic setting and the beautiful waitresses that parade along the tables to serve the food.

Even though, when we went to Bambuddha, there were a lot of tables with kids and young children, but to our taste, the venue does not really suite for kids.

Bambuddha is the kind of place you go only once if you have the means to do it, otherwise there are much better venues on the island and less expensive to dine.

  • El Chiringuito Ibiza in Es Cavallet is the ideal spot for bohemian chic clientele. It is a perfect location to chill out for lunch.

Es Cavallet is ideally located near the natural parc of saltwork near one of the famous nudist beaches in Ibiza.

The Chiringuito is beautifully decorated with woody and design furniture with a view to its wonderful beach.

The food was good but nothing extraordinary and very expensive. We must spend 55 Euros per person for three cocktails, three dishes and two desserts.

The service, the restaurant had an armada of waitresses and waiters, they were fine and efficient.

El Chiringuito is the place you come to see and be seen, but also to chill out under a hot sun and to bath if you are not afraid to dive in a chilly water.

  • El Pins Resort in Ibiza located in Sant Antoni de Portmany and it’s a four stars hotel.

The resort has been recently renovated and it looks like brand new. We like the design and luminosity; most of the areas in the hotel are very clean; from the pool area to our room; from the gym to the breakfast restaurant and from the lobby to the spa.

Here is our review for El Pins Resort:

    The positive points:

    - Well located for visiting the prettiest beaches on the island

    - Pleasant swimming pools (nice music, bar)

    - Very clean room, each with its own terrace

    - Good breakfast, they have good and tasty natural fruits

    - Good bedding

    - Good gym room but a little bit small

    - Quite correct multisport field (tennis, basketball, and football)

    The negative points:

    - No real bathroom in the room, there is a toilet, a shower but the sink is next to the bed, it's

      quite strange

    - Absence of tissues and iron in the room

    - Absence of dressing gown for the pool and the spa

    - No complementary water bottles and coffee

    - Paid parking (15 Euros a day) extremely expensive

    - Paid Spa (12.50 Euros each time)

    - No game room for junior kids even though it said that there is a junior room

    - All balls, from basketballs to footballs have been teared down with a knife by an unknow

and deranged person during our stay

We have expressed our negative points to Alberto, the manager of the hotel and he seemed quite embarrassed by our points.

Overall, we had a pleasant nine days stay at this hotel. It was very good value for our stay.
